River Canoeing Enthusiasts Gear Up for Race For the Rivers 2008
Greenway Network, a non-profit volunteer organization concerned with water conservation and preservation, is set to re-stage their successful Missouri River paddling race in historic Saint Charles Missouri. Through two separate racing events for beginner adventure racers and paddling enthusiasts, The Greenway Network has designed Race For the Rivers 2008 as a fun-filled way for everyone from canoeing enthusiasts to curious spectators to promote clean water education, restoration and recreation.
The Clean Water Challenge - A Beginner Adventure Racing Event
For canoeing enthusiasts interested in beginner adventure racing, the Clean Water Challenge offers the perfect opportunity to test the adventure racing waters. This 20 mile Missouri River race kicks off in Weldon Spring and concludes at the Race For the Rivers Festival in Frontier Park. Along the way to the finish, adventure racers will complete a number of tasks designed to build beginner knowledge of the Rivers and how to properly care for them, including assistance in water quality monitoring.
Race For the Rivers - A Competitive Race for Canoeing Enthusiasts
For those looking to move a bit beyond beginner adventure racing, Race For the Rivers offers serious canoeing enthusiasts a tougher challenge. This 65 mile journey along the Missouri River spans two days. The racing adventure concludes at the Confluence, just north of downtown St. Louis.
