Race For the Rivers on the Scenic Missouri River

Perfect for the conscientious adventurer on the lookout for St. Louis events a little off the beaten path, Race For the Rivers 2008 offers fans of river kayaking and canoeing an opportunity to have fun and support clean water initiatives around the St. Louis area.

With water education, restoration and recreation as the focus, the Greenway Network has organized three separate events for August 23 & 24 to satisfy serious river paddlers with a passion for Missouri kayaking along with moderate canoeing enthusiasts and budding Missouri River conservationists. All pledges support Greenway Network's various clean water projects and events.

Clean Water Challenge - Missouri Kayaking and Canoeing For Beginners

Designed for the river paddler with a fair knowledge of Missouri canoeing and kayaking do's and don'ts, this beginner adventure racing event kicks off in Weldon Spring and concludes 20 miles downriver at Frontier Park just west of St. Louis in historic St. Charles MO. This event offers paddlers the opportunity to learn more about the Missouri River through a number of additional tasks on the way to the finish, including assistance in water quality monitoring.

Race For the Rivers - Missouri Canoeing and Kayaking For Serious Paddlers

This event is 65 miles of Missouri kayaking and canoeing at its finest. Competitive river racing paddlers begin this two-day marathon canoe race in Washington, pausing at the Race For the Rivers Festival in St. Charles, MO. Day two begins the mad dash to the finish at the Confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers just north of downtown St. Louis.

Race For the Rivers Festival - A Standout Among St. Louis Events

Keeping a calendar of family-friendly St. Louis events? Don't forget the Race For the Rivers Festival at Frontier Park. River kayaking and canoeing aficionados from both events converge here to mingle among supporters and curious spectators looking to get the inside scoop on Missouri canoeing events and competitive kayaking events in the St. Louis area.

Live bands, arts and crafts and educational displays are just a few of the many activities to enjoy as you peruse outdoor gear from St. Louis vendors and keep tabs on the leader boards.
